A healthy endocrine system is a must for solving female problems because the glands are at the deepest level of the body processes. Glands are critical to good health, especially as you age. Many hormones are protein based, so a diet high in vegetable proteins and whole grains, with some lecithin and nutritional yeast, is important to optimizing gland and hormonal health for both men and women.

Hormones, like adrenaline, insulin, and thyroxine, are chemical messengers exerting wide-ranging effects. Hormones affect our moods, energy levels, mental alertness and metabolism. Your glands and hormones are affected first by nutritional deficiencies, pollutants, chemicalized foods and synthetic hormone mimics. Lack of minerals, for instance, something most Americans live with today, undermines the health of almost every gland and organ. The chronic stress loads that most Americans live under have a direct effect on hormone balance. We can see this easily in low levels of steroidal hormones produced by our “stressed-out” adrenals.

Is your body showing signs that it needs a gland cleanse?
• unexplained bloating or weight gain caused by sluggish metabolism (impaired thyroid activity)
• sallow skin color; poor skin texture (often means a sluggish liver and poor gallbladder activity)
• chronic fatigue yet the inability to sleep through the night (adrenal exhaustion or pineal imbalance)
• mental fuzziness, dizziness when you get up quickly, heart palpitations (adrenal exhaustion)
• cold hands and feet; hair, skin and nails problems; or menstrual problems (thyroid malfunction)
• constant colds or flus, even out of season (glands are always affected by respiratory infections)
• PMS, fibroids and endometriosis (hormone imbalance disorders)

A Fresh Foods Gland Cleanse

A fresh foods cleansing diet clears your body of toxins and allows it a brief rest before beginning a new way of eating which nourishes your glands. A gland cleanse also generates clearer skin, a more even temperament, fewer allergies, sweeter breath, softer hair and brighter eyes as clogging toxins and congestion leave the body.  Hormone imbalance disorders like PMS, fibroids and endometriosis can be overcome or reduced as congestive wastes leave the body.

Drink 8 glasses of water each day of your cleanse. (Glands are affected first by dehydration.) Eliminate caffeine during your cleansing diet for the best improvement of hormonal problems; limit caffeine after your cleanse for preventive health. Avoid red meats, hard alcohol (too much sugar), sodas and tobacco.

The night before a gland cleanse… Take a gentle herbal laxative like Herbal Laxa caps.
The next day: if in season, for the first day of your juice cleanse, go on a watermelon juice-only cleanse. Drink throughout the day to rapidly flush and alkalize.

For the next 2-3 days:
On rising: take lemon juice in water with 1 tsp. maple syrup; or a glass of aloe vera juice and 1 tsp. nutritional yeast flakes for B vitamins; or Cleansing & Purifying Tea.
Breakfast: take 2 tsp. of cranberry concentrate in water with 1 tsp. honey, and have fresh fruit with yogurt and toasted wheat germ.
Mid-morning: have apple or carrot juice with 1 tbsp. Energy Green drink mix mixed in, or a low sodium V-8; and some raw celery or cucumber sticks with kefir cheese or yogurt cheese.
Lunch: have a bowl of miso soup with seaweed sprinkled on top. Add 1 tsp. nutritional yeast for B vitamins. Or, have a green salad with sprouts, carrots, lemon/oil dressing and sesame seeds sprinkled on top.
Mid-afternoon: have a mixed veggie juice and some raw crunchy veggies (especially broccoli and cauliflower) with a vegetable dip; and a balancing herb tea, like Female Harmony Tea or Cleansing & Purifying tea if you are a man.
Dinner: have a Mineral Rich Broth: Simmer 30 minutes: 3 carrots, 1 cup parsley, 1 onion, 2 potatoes, & 2 stalks celery. Strain, add 1 tbsp. Liquid Aminos and enjoy; or have a green salad with yogurt dressing and Cleansing & Purifying tea.
Before Bed: have a glass of papaya-pineapple juice to enhance enzyme activity; or 1 tsp. cranberry concentrate in chamomile tea; or Stress Arrest tea for easier sleep.
